KEYWORDS: Crush, Chivalry, Chauvinism

Socialization

Though Sissy was not great at making friends, she was excellent at keeping them. Anna was her best friend and study partner. She was opposite to Sissy when it came to making friends, which complemented the duo and brought a few others to their circle.  Summer was one charming guy who dared to get into the circle in his bid to be close to Sissy.  He was a courteous and charming guy with an admirable sense of chivalry towards girls. His gentlemanly display of affection broke through Sissy’s mental defenses against male chauvinism, birthing a safe commitment to each other’s success.

They both soon became friends with Summer not being able to hide his crush on Sissy until it became public notice to everyone. They subsequently became inseparable in a healthy relationship that lasted through high school. The experience of attraction between a boy and a girl is a possibility in adolescence, which if sensibly managed could lay the foundation for having  healthier and wholesome relationships in adulthood.

Adolescence was fun for  Sissy with her few friends at school and church whom she enjoyed spending time with playing music or acting in dramas. She was raised with high values and moral standards which she held in high esteem despite prevailing peer pressures.

They met their teachers’ and parents’ expectations to do well at school. Teachers had their eyes on them but the duo exceeded expectations as they balanced both worlds of play and work, they played the game and obeyed the rule. Girls are princesses and should be treated as such. Sissy placed a high worth on herself and Summer paid the price to be her prince charming. They supported each other and built a strong partnership against peer pressure and juvenile delinquencies. Sissy was careful to choose her friends, seeing that everyone comes from different backgrounds, with different values, and moral beliefs. She knew the impact of friendship on behaviors. She understood how young people could be easily influenced by poor choices of acquaintance. She was not moved by condescending criticism, or unfounded charade by the wannabes squad.
